HOPE, Lional "Vaughn"

Passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his residence at the age of 73.  Beloved husband of Marcia Hope (nee McKee).  Loving father of Ron Hope.  Dear brother of Bill, Fred, Glenda (dec. Darwin), Marlyn (Al), Anthony (Pat), Donna (dec. Bob), Doug (Nicki) and Shelley (dec. Dale).  Survived by his sister-in-law Edna. Predeceased by his parents Ken and Julia (nee Raaflaub) and his brother Boyd.  Vaughn leaves many nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.

As a teenager, Vaughn worked for K&A Motors pumping gas.  Later on he was hired on at the Department of Highways where he earned his mechanic license including heavy equipment operator and others.  During the 1970's, Vaughn became a pilot enjoying many hours in the air.  He traveled while working with the Government to Moosonee  and Polar Bear Island traveling on the Polar Bear Express.  He also spent time on Pelee Island.  He worked at the Leslie M. Frost Natural Resource Centre in Dorset in the maintenance department, retiring on March 31, 1995 after many years of loyal service. In 1982 Vaughn moved his family to the farm where everyone chipped in raising cows and harvesting the hay in summer along with good friend Harold.  Vaughn joined his son, Ron, owner of Mary Lake Motors in Port Sydney as a parts and service manager and mechanic, also helping in many other aspects of the business.

He enjoyed meeting and talking to people, about anything, and helping people in so many great ways.  He loved telling stories to all that listened.  His passing has already brought tears to many eyes.  Vaughn loved to deer hunt with his son and his buddies, later enjoying lunch at the farm, calling it their "Hunt Camp".  We will stay strong for him as he would want us to be.  Vaughn will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank those individuals at 911 for dispatching the paramedics and OPP so quickly and for doing all they could, binging comfort when needed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.  Messages of condolence can be left at www.billingsleyfuneralhome.com
