NEWMAN, Douglas Norman

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 30th, 2022, at Huntsville Memorial Hospital with family and a wonderful care team by his side.  Norman was born on January 4th, 1934 in Toronto to Douglas and Irene Newman. At approximately 4 years of age, Norman moved to Huntsville with his mother and younger sister Joan, when his father went overseas during the 2nd world war, where he was raised and spent most of his adult life. Norman was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Grace Margarite (nee Rickward), the love of his life, in August of 2019, whom he missed terribly. Left to mourn him are his 3 children, Brenda Greer, Karen Woroch (Chris), Dale Newman (Susan). Cherished grandchildren, Bethany, Jamie (Christina), Karissa, Carly (Paul) and Jordan.  Great-grandfather of Alyssa, Jacob, Brooklyn, Isaac, Lucas, Ella and Aria.  Pre-deceased by his sisters, Norma Jean and Joan (nee McFadyen).  Norman will be sadly missed by his dear friends John and Brenda West, Scott and Andrea Chatterson, and Lori Gray.

Norm (Dad) was a doer. If he saw something that needed to be done, he did it.  He was a lover of so many things including sports, travel, camping, fishing, photography and woodworking. And he loved his church family, his neighbours and the wider Huntsville community.  He has left his touch of love on the hearts of so many.

We wish to thank Dr. Megan Stephenson, Russ Buckerfield (Hospital Chaplain), and all the ICU nurses at the Huntsville Hospital, in particular Brad, Sam, Matt, Shannon, Kathy, Cathy, Esther, Irene, Laura, and Karen. As well, we would like to thank Dr. Johnstone, Dr. Ryan, RTs Andrew and Krista, and Dietician Trish. You all cared for Dad in such a professional and compassionate way and in caring for him as you did, you ministered to us as well.

A Celebration of Life/Open House will take place on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 from 1-4 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Huntsville.  As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Friends of Fairvern.  Messages of condolence can be left at www.billingsleyfuneralhome.com
