CROSSON, Leonard Stanley

Passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 13, 2021 at Fairvern Nursing Home in his 93rd year.  Beloved husband of Eileen (nee Bullock) who predeceased Leonard on December 5th, 2008.  Leonard was born June 8, 1928 in Huntsville to parents David and Lillian (nee Ferguson) Crosson.  He is the loving father to his daughter Bonnie.  Proud grandfather to Tracy, Kelly and Julie.  Cherished great-grandfather to Megan and Oliver Speight, Kaitlyn and Rixon Watson and Owen and Madison Wilbur.  Predeceased by siblings Irene, Margaret, Victor, Leona, David, Ken, Audrey, Evelyn and Marvin.

Raised in Huntsville, he worked at the Huntsville Tannery, drove taxi, worked at Parkers Bake Shop as baker until its closing, then went on to Canusa Pipe where he retired.  He was known for his famous 14 carrot cake and gumdrop cake which Dr. Small, the office staff, and Fairvern staff enjoyed for many years.  His family also enjoyed his Christmas Cake, Gingerbread Men, and many other fancy cakes of his creation for home and school.  Together Leonard and Eileen made Bonnie's wedding cake only to trip going into the hall and dropping the top layer which he quickly scooped up formed it into shape and decorated it, while keeping it a secret for four years until the birth of his first grandchild, Tracy.  He was the baker for the many 1000's of hamburgers and hot dog buns consumed at the Tastee Cream and of course those hot cross buns!  Leonard also had a special buddy, Freeda, both were seen many a day walking.  A special thank you for letting them reunite for a short visit before he passed, very much appreciated.

His grandchildren remember many interrupted nights of sleep because of his very loud snoring when camping, and they remember skipping rope tied to their bathing suits, and grandpa running around the pool so they could swim; driving lessons, and baking lessons.  Great-grandchildren enjoyed wooden rocking horses, and baking with him.  Grandpa would say "I can't remember names to faces but I sure love them and they are mine".  Thank you for all the memories, the love and everything you have done.  Leading up to his final days Tracy would phone Kelly, Julie and myself and share these memories with him.  Special thank you to the Fairvern staff who were wonderful and Dr. Stephenson for making sure Dad was comfortable. We all love you and will miss you but each of us are happy his three-year wish was finally granted and he is once again reunited with his first love - mom / grandma / great-grandma.

A private graveside burial took place on Monday, October 18, 2021 carried by his family and laid to rest with a big cheer from England.
