MATHIAS, JAMES FRANKLIN GEORGE

Passed away peacefully at Algonquin Grace Residential Hospice in Huntsville Monday, November 11, 2019 after a short but courageous battle with cancer in his 76th year, surrounded by his loving wife and kids.

Although his illness was short, he always lit up when his grandkids would visit, and always had a joke to tell to make us laugh.  His strength and courage through it all was inspiring good days and bad his first worry was always to make sure his family was going to be ok.

James leaves behind his beloved wife Donna, loving dad to Karrie ( Cory ) Jamie ( Harry ) Allison ( Shane ) And Angie, cherished Poppa to Emma-Grace, Olivia-Maree, Nate, Ty, Karlie, Leo, Pierce, Lincoln, Jeffrey, Jessica and Otto.  Great Poppa to Lexi, he will be missed by many nieces nephews friends & co workers.

James was born in Huntsville Ontario January 9, 1943. It was his love for all things with wheels and shinny things that started at a young age leading him to owning his own trucking company that he never looked at as a job, it was his passion.  It was through that love and passion for trucking that he met many friends that have a special place in his heart.

James loved camping with his family, shinning his truck for truck shows, going to NASCAR and being a huge part of his grandkids racing, he loved get togethers, having drinks with his girls and never said no to a good party.

James was a family man, and now our family chain has been broken.  But we will be strong like he was for us.  We will miss you everyday and keep your memories alive.  At get togethers we will always raise a glass to you.  We love you so very  much.

On behalf of Jim’s family we would like to thank Dr. Harrold the many nurses and PSW’s as well as the staff and volunteers, for all the excellent care, compassion and support they showed Jim and his family.  For making Jim happy and feel at home during his final months at Algonquin Grace.

A visitation will take place on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Billingsley Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m.  A celebration of life will take place on January 18, 2020 at the Royal Canadian Legion Huntsville - upper level, from 1-5 p.m., to celebrate Jim’s life with fond memories and funny stories from over the years.  Memorial donations can be made to Hospice Huntsville.  Messages of condolence can be left at www.billingsleyfuneralhome.com
