ASHBY, Charles William Morley "Charlie"

A veteran of the Korean War, Charles passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 12th, 2020 at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital in his 87th year.  Charlie was born and raised in Huntsville along side his seven siblings.  He was born on March 22nd, 1934 to parents Steven and Lillian Ashby (nee Bombay).  Beloved husband of Lila Ashby (nee Hall) who predeceased Charlie on October 29th, 2014.  Charlie is survived by Velma Ashby (nee  Rawn) his first wife, friend and mother of his children.  Loving father of Keith (Dorothy) Ashby, Rosanne (Paul) Carter and Neil (Cathy) Ashby.  Stepfather of Kevin (Sherry) Stroud, Darryl Stroud and Ronica (Dale) Lewis.  Charlie will be dearly missed by his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Pre-deceased by his siblings Beverly (Linda), Don (Peggy), Greg, Shirley (dec. Jerry), Rhoda (dec. Jack), Audrey (dec. Stan) and Jack (Donna).

Following in his father and grandfathers' steps, Charlie worked at Weldwood his entire career.  Charlie enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he leaves many friends to mourn his loss.

A private family service and burial has taken place.  A celebration of life will take place once Covid-19 restrictions have been eased.
