Anita (Leger)Marie Belliveau
April 30,1932- August 25, 2021
Passed away peacefully at Oakville Hospital with her love by her side.
Beloved wife for 68 years of Edgar; caring mother of Dan (Cindy), Dianne, Janice (Rick), Jean. Grandmother to Arlie (Matthew), James (Tiffany), Derek (Rachel), Joshua, Patrick, Taylor, Chandra (Aaron), Carrie and Christopher. Anita delighted in her Great-grandchildren: Huxley, Liam, Georgia, Arthur, Olivia and was happily anticipating the new arrival. Anita was born in New Brunswick to Alphie Leger and Delphine (Pettipas) and grew up in a happy home with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Anita moved to Toronto with her siblings in the early 1950’s. Anita is predeceased by her siblings Theresa (Mike), Camille (Anne), Fred (Dora). She will be missed by her siblings Ernest (Shirley), Rene (Jeanette), Bernadette (Ron (dec), Gerry (Linda).
Anita’s first priority was always family, offering a consistent and stable home-base that was a refuge for her children as well as many of their friends (She loved the role of ‘second mom’). Extra space was always available for a week, a month, and yes sometimes a few years! Some were known to continually return to sample her famous spaghetti or those super yummy chicken wings!
Anita loved sewing and expanded her skills through numerous courses at Sheridan College. Always a fashionista she both designed and made exquisite outfits for herself and family (a few lucky friends received a one-of-a-kind hand knit sweater). Her love of fashion extended to fine jewellery and she relished matching beautiful jewels with her clientele through her management of an exclusive jewellery store in Downtown Oakville.
Notorious for co-opting her children into volunteer adventures in the community, Anita demonstrated a strong commitment herself through significant volunteer efforts with The Heart and Stroke Foundation and Cancer Society while being an active member of St Dominic’s Parish (including: CWL, Choir and Marion Ladies).
Anita was always ready to socialize, especially when hosting, even into her eighties delighted in facilitating the “Wine Women of Wingrove!”. She often spoke of her fondness for the lovely people and events associated with the “60 degree” socials.
An avid traveller Anita was thrilled that she had numerous opportunities to explore this lovely planet. She filled her home with music and art of all types and was often heard singing (which she loved to do) as well as dancing (later to be called her dancercise!). A broken hip at 75 gave her the chance to learn to paint and in addition to canvas she loved to make cards for people for every occasion (even just to let them know she cared).
Anita was certainly a popular and well coiffed Diva who lived her life with a richness and abundance of spirit for what she held dear: family, friends and her Faith. Her exuberance will be missed.
