Thomas Walter Isaac Brott

Thomas Walter Isaac Brott, affectionately known as Tom, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. Born on September 2, 1940, in Bracebridge, Ontario, Tom’s life was a testament to dedication, craftsmanship, and heartfelt connection with family and community.

Tom embarked on a long and meaningful career, spending 29 years as a silversmith—a true artisan who poured skill and care into his work. Later, he spent 11 years serving as a custodian for York Region, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to those around him. His hands created beauty and his work ethic inspired those who knew him.

On April 6, 1963, Tom married the love of his life, Darline Brott (née Reeds), in Toronto, Ontario. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. Tom was a proud father to Steven (Nancy) Brott, James (Isaura) Brott, and Ron (Rosalynd) Brott, who carry forward his values and warmth. His joy extended profoundly to his grandchildren—Kathryn (Ben), Julia (Caden), Robert (Brianna), Ashley, Victoria, and Jasper—each of whom cherished their grandfather’s kindness and stories. He was also a great-grandfather to the beloved Jackson, Harper, Adelaide, and Grayson, who brought a special light to his later years.

Tom’s passions were many and deeply felt. He loved golf and curling, finding camaraderie and challenge on the greens and the ice. His affinity for winemaking was a testament to his patience and joy in cultivation, much like the effort he devoted to his gardens and lawns, which he meticulously tended with pride. Evenings often found him dancing or bowling, sharing joyful moments with family and friends. Most treasured, however, were the hours spent in his workshop, crafting unique items for those he loved—each piece a symbol of his generosity and creativity.

Tom’s profound interest in working on his ancestry underscored a life deeply rooted in family heritage, a connection that enriched his identity and inspired those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on May 28, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Billingsley Funeral Home, located at 430 Ravenscliffe Road, Huntsville, ON P1H 1L7. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of a man who touched so many lives with quiet strength and gentleness.

His passing leaves a void felt deeply by his wife Darline, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—all fortunate to have been embraced by his love throughout the years.

Thomas Walter Isaac Brott’s life was a mosaic of craftsmanship, devotion, and family—a legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for the skill of his hands but for the warmth of his spirit.

May his memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing Tom.
