Ruth Geraldine Hughes

Ruth Geraldine Hughes, 91, of Huntsville, Ontario passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Leslie Merritt Hughes.  Ruth was a devoted mother to her four children: Richard Hughes, Nancy Wilson (Rodger), Harvey Hughes (Hellen), and Randy Hughes. She was also a cherished grandmother to Amanda Wilson (Adrien), Michelle Wilson, Scott Wilson (Lorain), Jeffery Hughes (Jessica), Brittany Hughes, Keegan Hughes, Thomas James Pol, and Bradley McLean, and a loving great-grandmother to Lucas, Peyton, Stella, Elena, and Mackenzie. 

Ruth loved knitting and was a wonderful homemaker, always making sure her family felt her love and care. She spent many happy afternoons fishing with her late husband, Leslie, making special memories with family and friends. Her homemade dinner rolls and desserts were a hit at every family dinner, and she will always be remembered for those delicious treats. 

Ruth's gentle spirit, nurturing nature, and unwavering dedication to her family will be deeply missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Huntsville Hospice or a charity of your choice, reflecting Ruth’s lifelong values of generosity and care. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Billingsley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m..  The service will be held at 12:00 p.m. to honour Ruth's remarkable life and legacy. Burial to follow the service at Hutcheson Memorial Cemetery.  Reception to follow interment at Billingsley Funeral Home
