Robert Irving Maxwell

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Robert Irving Maxwell, who died on August 15th, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born in Huntsville, Ontario, on October 12th, 1952, to James and Mabel Maxwell.

Robert, affectionately known as "Papa Bob" or "Bus Driver Bob," dedicated his life to his family. For over 40 years, he worked tirelessly at the local Tembec Saw Mill to provide financial security for his loved ones. He was a familiar face there, known for his ability to quickly and safely load trucks while sharing a warm smile and a joke with the drivers.

After retiring from the mill, Robert found his true calling: ensuring the safety of children as a school bus driver for Hammonds Busline. He took immense pride in his new role, and his heart was warmed by the shouts of "Hi, Bus Driver Bob!" from kids he would see out in the community.

A devoted family man, Robert was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca Lucy (née McCallum), his youngest daughter, Megan Lori, and his sisters, Nancy (Doug) Cutler and Yvonne (Paul) Borbely.

He will be profoundly missed by his heartbroken daughter Jocelynn and her daughters, Daphne and Lucy. He also leaves behind his only son, Robert J. Maxwell (Lesley), and his grandchildren Morghan, Megan, Nevian, Isaac, and Aurora, and his great-grandson, Rowan. Robert is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who feel this loss deeply.

Robert will be remembered for his passion for fishing and hunting with his nephew Nathan and brother-in-law Doug. His memory will live on through the cherished moments of family camping trips to provincial parks and in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church, 169 West Rd., Huntsville, Ontario. Pastor Daryl Baker will be officiating. Refreshments will follow the service.
