Raymond Joseph Francois Guy Delay

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt reverence that we announce the passing of Raymond Joseph Francois Guy Delay, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the community. Born on February 18, 1934, in Notre-Dame du Nord, Temiscamingue, Quebec. Raymond—known affectionately as Ray—left us on June 10, 2026, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge.

Ray’s life was a beautiful testament to dedication, love, and generosity. He was the most loving, caring, generous, passionate, and patient man, embodying these qualities in every role he took on—as a husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, Poppa, and grandfather. His devotion to his family stood as the cornerstone of his existence. Ray and his wife, Ellen Clara Delay, were united in marriage on November 14, 1953, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, sharing 71 years of a deep and steadfast bond before Ellen's passing.

Throughout his career, Ray worked as a measurement supervisor at Consumer Gas, but many fondly remember when he repaired televisions—an indication of his skillful and helpful nature. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ray’s passions radiated brightly. As a radio amateur operator (VE3 CLR), gardener, woodworker, and restorer of old tractors, he found joy in nurturing both his crafts and his community. His love for gardening was especially notable; known affectionately as "the cuke guy," Ray generously grew an abundance of vegetables—cucumbers and beans—always ensuring there was a bounty at the end of his driveway for anyone in need. His commitment to community and nature extended to his affection for animals and wildlife, and he treasured traveling and camping, activities that nurtured his soul and love of the outdoors.

Ray’s family legacy is a rich and beautiful tapestry, woven with love and connection. He is survived by his children Linda (Darryl), David, Gary (Cindy), Ruthann (whose husband Pat is deceased), Cheryl (whose husband George is deceased), Brenda (Mike), and Michael (Trish). Their joys multiplied through 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren—a testament to the lasting imprint of Ray’s love and care. Among his extended family, he is also remembered by brothers-in-law Ed and Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his cherished son, Dwayne, devoted parents, Alice and John Delay, and siblings Jean and Alice.

The community is invited to honor Ray’s memory with a visitation on June 19, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the Billingsley Funeral Home, located at 430 Ravenscliffe Road, Huntsville, Ontario. The funeral service will directly follow from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the same location. Ray’s final resting place will be at Stephenson Memorial Cemetery, 280 Muskoka Road 10, Huntsville, Ontario, with an interment ceremony beginning at 2:30 PM.

Raymond Joseph Francois Guy Delay leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, selflessness, and an unwavering passion for life. His willingness to give, teach, and nurture—whether through his family or his community garden—will be missed deeply and remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know him. Resting now, we find comfort in the vibrant life he led and the countless lives he touched along the way.

May his gentle soul find eternal peace.
