Peter "Pete" Mark Bain

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of Peter “Pete” Bain on February 18, 2024 at the age of 66. He was born on February 15, 1958 in Grimsby, ON and spent his final moments with his family at his home in Huntsville, ON.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Anne, and his two children Steven and Tina. He also leaves behind his sister Diane, brother Dave, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was a loving husband, proud dad, caring brother, and loyal friend.

Pete was a carpenter by trade who spent 40+ years building homes in the Muskoka area. He took great pride in his work and was a mentor to many young men on the jobsite. He was recognized no matter where he went, and he took care to learn and remember the names of anyone he interacted with. He loved live music and was a regular attendee of local shows, eager to speak to performers and event organizers alike – you could count on him to be at the Etwell Concert Series most Sundays.

Pete had many fond memories of his childhood on the fruit farm in Grimsby and trips to the family cottage on Lake of Bays. Stories from growing up were full of mischief with his siblings and cousins. After some time out West, he settled in Huntsville and met Anne. They were married in 1990 and built a home for their future family with the help of their parents and extended family. Photos of the construction were cherished by Pete, and he would often bring out albums to share with visitors.

Pete loved to be outdoors, rain or shine, and could often be found sitting in the sun with a newspaper or by the campfire listening to his radio. Gentle and kind, he had a quiet confidence and sly sense of humor. His favourite stories to tell were of camping in Algonquin Park and adventures out West with his lifelong friend, Mike. He was the first to lend a hand, offering his tools, time, or expertise to others, whether friend, family, or stranger.

Pete was a special man. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew him. We are comforted to know he will be reunited with his parents Bill and Becky, sister Sue, and father-in-law Gordon.

Peter – you were a blessing to have in our lives. I’ll save you a seat at the next festival.

A celebration of life will be held on June 8th at Billingsley Funeral Home. We ask that attendees come with a memory of Pete in mind.
