GIESBRECHT, Mary Jane (nee David)

Mary Jane fought death, valliantly passing on her own terms on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at The Pines Long Term Care Home in Bracebridge in her 80th year.  She was born on March 4, 1944 to parents Albany and Francis (nee Chamberlain) David.  Mary Jane is the beloved wife of Ernest Giesbrecht.  Loving mother of Brenda Maukonen, Daniel Giesbrecht (Jennifer) and Kelly Giesbrecht (Gordon)  Cherished grandmother of Erin Lacroix (Jory), Thomas Maukonen (Jessica), Daniel Giesbrecht (Ocea), Hazel DeClerq and Stella DeClerq.  Great-grandmother of Sophie and Chloe Lacroix.  Dear sister of Yvette Byers.

Mary Jane was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick. She moved at a young age to Hamilton, Ontario, where she met her husband, Ernie, of 62 years. Mary Jane and Ernie moved with their three children to Port Sydney where they shared a home for 50 years until Mary Jane took up residence at The Pines in Bracebridge, Ontario in 2021.

Mary Jane stayed home to raise her children until they were old enough for her to work outside the home as a custodian at VK Greer Public School. Mary Jane delighted in her work at the school and was a vibrant member of the staff.

Mary Jane will be remembered for her delicious baking especially her pies, active participation in the Anglican congregation of Port Sydney, and her many forays into physical activity including aquafit and tap dancing.

Mary Jane was a dedicated spouse and mother. We always knew she would be there for us. We will miss her dearly. We love you mom.

The family would like to say a special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Cedar wing at The Pines for their outstanding care.
