Marica Josephine Paula (McKee) Hope.
Born in Huntsville, Ontario 28 June 1947 passed 11 March 2026 at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital Orillia, Ontario age 78. Predeceased by parents Albert Hugh McKee 1907-1977 and May Hermon Josephine Malloy 1905-1996, brother Paul McKee 1946 and husband Vaughn Hope 2020. Marica married Vaughn 31 Dec 1966, spending their honeymoon in Niagara Falls. Beloved mother of Ron Hope. Dear sister of Brian (Dianne) McKee. Sister-in-law of Marlyn (late Al) Newell, Bill Hope, Fred Hope, late Boyd (Edna) Welch, Glenda (late Darwin) Brown, Tony (Pat) Welch, Donna (late Bob) Watt, Doug (Nicki) Hope, and Shelley (late Dale) Welch.
Marica worked for Bell Canada for many years. Back then your phone number was your account number, and she could still recall many customers phone numbers years later. While Vaughn was working in Moosonee and Pelee Island she traveled with him. She moved with Vaughn to the farm in 1982 raising cows and harvesting the hay. She also enjoyed working with Vaughn and her son Ron at his shop Mary Lake Motors in Port Sydney. There she got to meet many people pumping gas, answering phones and working the counter.
Marcia loved life and lived it to her fullest. There wasn’t a cat that she didn’t like or want to keep. She enjoyed riding her own motorcycle with Vaughn and Ron. She was excited when she got her hunting license when Ron got his. She enjoyed spending the summers at the family campground at Lake Bernard and going to her moms to play cards with the family. Going for an airplane ride or out on the boat with Ron always made her day. One of her favourite things to do was to go to the casino with Ron and her friend Janine, and if her brother Brian went with them, she was even happier. No matter how her day was as soon as you said Casino she was ready to go. Going out for wings, which often including her niece Tracy, would always be a great way to end her day.
She will greatly be missed by her dog Pheonix and many nieces and nephews.
Thank you to the staff in the ICU at Soldiers Memorial Hospital who took such great care of Marcia in her last few weeks. And to the staff at Huntsville Hospital and RVH during her visits there in the last year.
As an expression of sympathy memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
