Lois Ferne McCutcheon, a cherished member of the Dwight community and beloved business owner, passed away tragically at her home on May 19, 2026. Born on May 13, 1959, in Owen Sound, Ontario, Lois lived a life marked by dedication to her family, her community, and her many passions.
Lois operated her own business, Cottage Maintenance and Cleaning, where her commitment to excellence and care for her clients was evident every day. Beyond her entrepreneurial spirit, she was deeply involved in community activities and was lovingly known as the go-to person in Dwight. Her vibrant personality, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile, endeared her to many and left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Her interests were many and varied. Lois found joy in hunting, fishing, and riding her ATV with her faithful companion, Susie Q. She was also a former member of the Lions Club, further reflecting her desire to give back and remain connected to others. Lois’s adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were hallmarks of her character, bringing both excitement and peace to her life.
Raised with the foundation of a high school education, Lois blossomed into a woman whose influence extended far beyond conventional achievements. She brought light and warmth not only to her family but to her entire community, inspiring a sense of unity and friendship.
Family was at the heart of Lois’s life. She is survived by her brothers, James Allan McCutcheon and William Earl McCutcheon, and her sister, Faye Emily Marie Bistretzan. Sister-in-laws Margaret McCutcheon and Kathie McCutcheon. She also leaves behind her nephews, William James “Bill” McCutcheon and his wife Jackie, William “Andrew” McCutcheon and his wife Michelle and Douglas (Amy) McCutcheon; and her nieces, Cheryl McCutcheon, Christa Bistretzan, Jennifer (Tom) Hoegl, Jodie (Brian) Miller, Kathie Lynn (Ray) Cutting, and Anne McCutcheon (Luke). Lois was predeceased by her brother, Glen Ward McCutcheon, as well as her beloved parents, James and Christine (nee Ward) McCutcheon.
Lois’s final moments was spent with Susie Q at her side, a testament to the strong bond and love they shared.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and all those who have reached out with love and kindness during this difficult time. Lois will be forever remembered for her generosity, warmth, and the spirit she brought to everyone she met.
Friends and family are invited to honor Lois’s life with a visitation on June 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Billingsley Funeral Home, located at 430 Ravenscliffe Road, Huntsville, ON, P1H 1L7. The funeral service will follow from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with a reception until 2:30 PM. Lois will then be laid to rest in an interment ceremony at Cooper Lake, 1067 Cooper Lake Rd, Dwight, ON, P0A 1H0, beginning at 3:00 PM beside her parents.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the Dwight Fire Department of Lake of Bays.
Lois Ferne McCutcheon lived a life full of passion, kindness, and community spirit. Though her absence leaves a profound void, her memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who knew her.
