McCUTCHEON, John Arthur

Lovable Old John (as his late beloved Mary always called him) slipped away peacefully, at home, covered by one of Mary's handmade quilts, with his three children by his side. Son Bill (Jo Anne), daughter Sue (Ron) and daughter Jane (the late Ted) were with John to tell him what a great Dad he was, what a remarkable life he led, how much they loved him - how much they learned from him, how much they will miss him. John and Mary met on September 27, 1945 at Western University. They married on September 17, 1949 and for all 70 years of their marriage, they were soul mates, life mates, and best friends. John climbed the corporate ladder of Bell Canada to become a Vice-President, but chose to retire at age 57 after working for the company for 35 years. John celebrated 42 years of retirement on August 3, 2025. Mary and John travelled the world, golfed, laughed and lived every minute of their lives together. It was a match truly made in heaven. What an inspiration John has been for so many years to friends, relatives and especially to his 3 children, to his grandchildren Heather (Eric), Bonnie (Ricardo), David (Terri), Breena (Keith), and to his great grandchildren, Kane, Kinley, Theo, Hudson, Julia, Cedar and Henry. "Mary D" or "SAM" - John's two special nicknames for Mary, went to heaven first and John has been waiting for five years and 157 days to join her. We can only imagine the reunion. A very special "Thank You" to Drs. Morton, Dufour, McAnuff, Kirkpatrick and Fiorotto, the team at Ontario Health at Home, the Palliative Care Team and to all the wonderful people at Closing the Gap.
