John "Jack" Paul Bell

John "Jack" Paul Bell, born on March 28, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at Muskoka Shores in Gravenhurst, Ontario.

Jack lived a full and dedicated life, cherished for both his professional accomplishments and his unwavering commitment to family.  A proud graduate of West Point Military Academy, where he earned a Bachelor's degree, Jack went on to further his education at Case Western Reserve University, obtaining a Master's Degree, and later at McMaster University, where he earned his PhD in chemical engineering. After completing his training at West Point, Jack served honorably for five years in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, an experience that shaped his character and influenced his future endeavors

Jack enjoyed a successful career as a chemical and environmental engineer. However, despite his professional achievements, it was his family that remained his greatest pride and joy. Throughout his life, he poured love into his relationships, making memories with his daughters and grandchildren which he valued above all else.

Jack's interests were varied and reflected his diverse talents. He had a passion for building houses and fixing machines, often sharing his skills through volunteering at Faith Mission in Campbellville and Camp Mini-yo-wi, contributing to the maintenance of these facilities. A self-proclaimed 'putterer,' he spent countless hours engrossed in reading and lifelong learning, ever the curious mind.

Jack is survived by his beloved daughters, Liz Verheye and her partner Jonathan de Peuter, Katy Norman, and Sara Bell and her partner Tony Stiglitz. He took great joy in the lives of his grandchildren, Quin and Luke Norman, and Brianna and Gabrielle Verheye, who brought immense happiness to his life. He is also remembered fondly by his sister Susan Stephens and her husband Jeffrey Stephens, as well as nephews Patrick and John and their families.

Jack is predeceased by his parents Vincent and Mary Bell, and his beloved wife of 51 years, the late Ellen Bell (nee Jones), whose memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of all who knew them.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Billingsley Funeral Home, located at 430 Ravenscliffe Road, Huntsville, Ontario. A memorial service will take place the following day, Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Hutcheson Memorial Cemetery at 12:00 PM, and a Celebration of Life at the funeral home from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.

Jack's legacy as a devoted father, grandfather, and friend will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the memories of those he loved so dearly.
