Ira James Derbyshire

Ira James (Jim) Derbyshire passed away peacefully in Barrie on January 19, 2024. Jim Derbyshire was in his 93rd year. He was born on November 23, 1931, in Toronto. Predeceased by wife Patricia in 2017. Caring father of Michael (Laura) and Jane. Marvellous grandfather of Brandon, Monique, Kevin, and Ellen. Fondly remembered by his cousins, nieces, and nephews. On graduation from Northern Vocational, Jim was recruited by IBM. He spent 40 years as an instructor, traveling the world while teaching. In retirement Jim moved to Huntsville and achieved a lifelong goal to obtain his model airplane pilot’s licence. Not only did he make and fly his own planes, but he was also an accomplished wood carver. 

A celebration of Life will be held on April 27, 2024 at Innisfil Funeral Home, 7910 Yonge Street, Innisfil, Ontario from 2 - 4 p.m.  As an expression of sympathy memorial donations can be made to your favourite charity in lieu of flowers.
