Date of Birth: June 13, 1939 — Agincourt, Ontario
Date of Passing: June 5, 2025 — Huntsville, Ontario
Married: August 29, 1959 — Rowena Athlone Hamilton (née Strong), Toronto, Ontario
Harold is lovingly remembered by his faithful wife, Rowena, and their four children: Robin (Ian), Joel, Andrew (Rhonda), and John (Kimberley). Together, they have been blessed with 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Harold enjoyed a successful 25-year career with Procter & Gamble. After leaving P&G, he briefly worked at Muskoka Bible Centre before taking on a Vice President role with Versa Foods. The highlight of his career was his time at David C Cook Communications, where he served as Director and General Manager for Canada and the UK. Harold and Rowena later retired to Muskoka.
Harold and Rowena were people of prayer. Each night as they lay in bed, they prayed together for their children and, later, for their grandchildren too. They believed that God heard their prayers and were never ashamed to bring their concerns before him.
Harold had a deep love for music. He began singing at the age of three and taught himself to play the piano by six. His passion for music helped introduce him to Rowena when they were both part of the Youth for Christ Singers in the mid-to-late 1950s. Harold loved singing solos in church, leading worship, and directing church choirs in various settings. One of his favourite experiences was leading worship for a summer at Muskoka Bible Centre.
Muskoka held a special place in Harold and Rowena’s hearts. With their children, they spent many summer vacations at Glen Rocks Bible Conference in Rosseau and later at Muskoka Bible Centre near Huntsville. They loved to read and could often be found in a comfortable chair with a book in hand. They also cherished their time exploring Muskoka’s lakes and rivers by boat, dreaming of one day owning a property there.
About 15 years ago, they sold the family home in Mississauga and built their dream home in Huntsville. They quickly became part of the Faith Baptist Church family, which they loved to call their home church. Harold and Rowena volunteered weekly, visiting three different long-term care homes to help lead worship services. They also enjoyed spending winters in Florida, sharing time with many friends from Faith Baptist and Erindale Bible Chapel.
Harold Robert Hamilton In recent years, Harold devoted himself to caring for Rowena at home before she was eventually admitted to Muskoka Landing Long Term Care Home about seven years ago. With the exception of a few months during COVID, Harold visited Rowena nearly every day. He would take her to the music room and play their favourite hymns on the piano, singing along in the early days. Remarkably, he never tired of playing for her or spending time at the Home.
Harold joined Rowena at The Landing just 30 days before he peacefully passed into the presence of his Saviour, Jesus Christ. No doubt, Rowena will miss his daily companionship and the beautiful music they shared.
A funeral service will be held on Friday June 13, 2025 at 11am in the Armadale Free Methodist Church, 400 Passmore Ave, Scarborough, followed by his burial. There will also be a reception with details on that day. The service will be officiated by Pastor Harry Toews of Faith Baptist Church, Huntsville.
In lieu of memorial donations or flowers, your warm wishes and prayers would be greatly appreciated. Please make special time to express your love and gratitude to your own family members.
