Harold John Greer

Harold John Greer, a cherished member of our community, passed away peacefully at Huntsville Hospital on November 14, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on April 30, 1930, in Bracebridge, Ontario, Harold was a man of profound character and warmly embraced by those who knew him.

Harold’s roots trace back to a family that immigrated from Ireland in 1886, planting deep connections across generations. He spent his early years in Bracebridge before residing in Windemere and eventually moving to Huntsville, Ontario.

A proud graduate of Bracebridge High School, Harold displayed a lifelong passion for craftsmanship. His hobbies included woodworking and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to appreciate the serenity of nature and showcase his remarkable talents.

Family was the cornerstone of Harold’s life. He is survived by his loving daughter Wanda (Sean) Clavette and son David (Kim) Greer and the late Beverly Greer. Harold took immense joy in the company of his grandchildren, Jennifer, Lindsay, Chelsea, Tyler, Chrissy, Karissa, and Dustin. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Justice, Jayeden, Bryson, Liam, Lincoln, Pierson, Mylah, Cole, Ryan, Josh, Lilly, and Logan, who will carry his legacy forward.

Harold shared close bonds with his siblings, including his brother Murray (June) Greer and sister-in-law Iris Greer, as well as his brother-in-law Bill Hayes, who supported one another throughout their lives.

He will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, especially for his warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. Harold was predeceased by his beloved wife Madeline Greer (nee Morgan), whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family. He also mourned the loss of his brothers Ron (Doris) Greer, Bill (Lee) Greer, Grant Greer, and sister Ruth Hayes, along with the guiding influence of his parents Tom and Lorna (nee Crowder) Greer.

A viewing will be held at Billingsley Funeral Home in Huntsville on November 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a burial service at St. Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery, Grassmere, at 12:30 PM. As we gather to celebrate the life of Harold John Greer, let us honor his legacy and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of many.
