HEAL, Gwendolin Ann (nee Rous)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our “matriarch” Gwendolin Ann Heal on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital in her 88th year. Loving wife of 53 years to the late George Heal. Cherished Mom to Chris (Christine), Diane, Steve (Franca) and David (Sandra). Loving Nan to her 10 grandchildren, Adam (Jenn), Bob (Rachel), Erin (Josh), Justin, Colin (Nadine), Dustin (Ashley), Cody (Laura), Vicky, Ronnie, and Dana. Jokester Great Nanny to 9 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ethan, Lyam, Ellie, Jacob, Rose, David, Rylan, and Amara. To quote the grandkids, “we really won the lottery when we got Nan”.
Gwen will be missed mostly for her witty sense of humour, her caring heart and compassionate spirit. Gwen had many friends throughout her lifetime whom she cherished dearly. She was an avid animal lover and had many treasured pets over the years. In her later years, Gwen spent her time volunteering at Huntsville Hospice and Muskoka Seniors and attending her church. At mom’s request her final resting place will be with George at one of her favourite places overlooking Beaver Lake. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
In keeping with Gwen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at the Emsdale Community Centre, 32 Joseph Street on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Visitation will take place from 1:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Hospice Huntsville at https://www.hospicehuntsville.com/ or to the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre at https://ontariospca.ca/muskoka/
