Gerald “Jerry” Willett passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 30, 2026, at the age of 75. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, a whole lot of laughter, and a catalogue of memories that somehow improve with every retelling.
Jerry’s story began in a way that already felt unmistakably on brand. He was born on the family farm to a mother who, at 47 years old and already having raised six children, decided there was no need to make a hospital visit part of the plan. Arriving on a Friday the 13th, weighing in at an impressive 13 pounds, he set the tone early for a life that rarely did things in a small or conventional way.
He wasn’t someone you could neatly summarize in a few lines. Jerry was the kind of person you met mid-story—usually right when it started getting interesting—and you just had to catch up as you went. He had a gift for turning the ordinary into something memorable, and for making the people around him feel just a little more alive in the process.
Mischief wasn’t something Jerry visited from time to time—it seemed to travel with him. He didn’t rely on textbooks or formal instruction so much as lived experience, instinct, and a sharp understanding of how things actually worked. Resourceful almost to a fault, he was the person you wanted nearby when plans went sideways or when things got complicated. If there was a workaround, Jerry had probably already found it. And if there wasn’t one, he’d figure that out too. Like a cat with a few extra lives in reserve, he made good use of all of them.
He leaves behind his children Jen (Mike) Willett-Farmer, Jimmy (Kathy) Sharpe, and Jason Willett. Grandchildren Ryan, Megan, Cole, Sara, and Noah, as well as 3 great grandchildren. Each of them carries something of him forward—whether they realize it yet or not. He will also be missed by his two surviving sisters Margarette, and Mary.
The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to Robin and the supportive community at The Huntsville Legion Seniors’ Manor, whose care and companionship meant a great deal to Jerry and to those who loved him.
If you knew Jerry, you likely have at least one story that begins with, “You won’t believe this…” and ends with laughter, disbelief, or both. His humour, his outlook, and his particular way of moving through the world left an impression that didn’t fade when the moment passed.
In the end, Jerry won’t just be missed—he’ll be remembered, retold, and laughed about. And in true Jerry fashion, he’ll likely continue to be the subject of stories that get just a little bit better every time they’re told.
