Frances Elizabeth Keevil

It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of beloved partner, mother, and dear friend, Fran Keevil. Frannie passed in the evening, in the home where she had raised her children, and lived for forty-one years. She is, and will be missed by many. Most dearly by Dean, her partner of forty-five years, and her children, Robert (Sashaina) and Kathryn (Hari). Also her grandchildren, Oriana, Julian, and finally Kahani, whom she lived just long enough to meet. She is survived by her siblings, Louise (Peter), Patty (Tim), Rick (Jane), many nieces and nephews, and a loving extended family. As an educator at many levels, she touched the lives of many people with her kindness and caring, and she will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived a good and full life, but she wasn't done. She had much more to give.

Fran was born in Toronto to Ralph and Nona Keevil. She spent early years growing up in Chatham, where her father was the radiologist at Chatham Hospital, but spent her summers on Lake Vernon. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario and the Ontario Teachers College. During her career she taught in primary and secondary schools, and group homes. She retired as a special education consultant for the Trillium Lakelands District School Board. In the middle of her career she took more than a decade away from teaching to be a full time mother to her two children. She retired in 2013 and was able to spend more time in the places and with the people that made her happy. She loved being in her garden, near and on the water, but most of all, with her children and grandchildren.

For those who would like to remember her and share memories, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 20, at Billingsley Funeral Home from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm.

The family would like to thank all those members of the community and health care teams who provided help and care for Frannie in the past months. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation or to Huntsville Hospice.
