Eldon Lavaine Lyngseth

Passed away peacefully at Algonquin Grace Hospice on February 5th, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Eldon was born on January 27th, 1939, to Hans and Ida Lyngseth in Spalding, Saskatchewan. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley. Also survived by his children Jamie (Kathy), Kevin (Lisa), and Krissy; his grandchildren Ethan (Grace) and Michael; his brother Delmar (Madeleine); his sister-in-law Lorraine; his brother-in-law Rick (Jodi); and his nephews and nieces Glenn, Darcy, Brad, Emily, Jason, Matt, Keshia, Sean, Sam, and Sawyer. Predeceased by brother-in-law Gary (Jan) and nephew Blake.

Eldon graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in chemical engineering. He started his career with Kimberly Clark in Niagara Falls and worked for them in several locations including Kapuskasing and St. John before coming to Huntsville and putting down roots after meeting Shirley. His career would later take the family to St. Catharines and Marietta, Georgia before retiring in 1999 and returning to Canada, settling in Utterson.

Eldon’s first love was his family, followed by watching his Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys until his health prevented it, and curling until moving to the states left him without an ice sheet to play on.

The family wish to thank all his caregivers. Special thanks to Dr. Brisson, Dr. Erven, Norma Connolly, Rena Middleton, Amy and Olivia from the Friends, PSWs Deanna, Abi, and Chayla, and all the wonderful staff and volunteers at Algonquin Grace Hospice. Thanks also to Cheryl and the team at Billingsley Funeral Home.

There will be a visitation at Billingsley Funeral Home on Saturday, February 10th from 2:00-4:00. Pastor Darrell Baker will officiate the funeral on Sunday, February 11th at 1:30 at Faith Baptist Church, 169 West Road, Huntsville.

Memorial donations to Algonquin Grace Hospice (Donate), the Alzheimer’s Society (Alzheimer Society of Canada), Canadian Cancer Society (Canadian Cancer Society), or a charity of the donor’s choice can be made to celebrate Eldon’s life.
