Donna Lea Brooks

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Brooks who left us on August 2, 2024, at the age of 81. Donna was born on April 12 1943 and lived a remarkable life marked by independence, resilience, and a deep love for her family. 

For many years, Donna made Toronto her home, where she lived independently, embracing city life with grace and vigor. Her time in Toronto was filled with cherished memories and a profound sense of self-reliance. 

In 2019, Donna made the heartfelt decision to move to Gravenhurst choosing to relocate to Muskoka Shores to be closer to her beloved two sisters: Barbara and Bonnie. This move was a testament to her close-knit family bonds and her unwavering commitment to being near those she loved. This move marked a new chapter in her life. Living at Muskoka Shores was a period of joy and connection, as she continued to touch the lives of those around her with her warmth and kindness.  

During her time at Muskoka Shores, Donna was lovingly cared for by a dedicated staff. The family extends heartfelt thanks to each member of the Muskoka Shores team for their compassion, attentiveness, and the exceptional care they provided. Their kindness and support brought Donna comfort and joy, and for that, we are profoundly grateful. 

Donna was predeceased by her beloved parents, Gordon and Madelaine Brooks. Their love and guidance were the foundation of her remarkable character. She leaves behind her sisters: Bonnie and husband Barry, Barbara and husband Tom. Each of them cherished the time they spent together and will deeply miss her presence. She is lovingly remembered by nieces Dawn, Amanda, and great nephews and niece Jacob, Kayleigh and Jack; each of whom held a special place in her heart. Donna will be fondly remembered by her youngest sister Heather, husband Walker and their families.  

A visitation will be held at Billingsley Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at a later date.  The funeral service can be viewed through our livestreaming services and can be found in the service section.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Charity of your choice in memory of Donna and her generous spirit.  

Though Donna is no longer with us, her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace dear Donna.
