David William Stackhouse passed away suddenly at his home in Huntsville on January 24, 2026, at the age of 69.

Born on October 8, 1956, in Toronto, Ontario, David was the beloved son of the late Benjamin and Josephine Stackhouse. He married the love of his life, Cathy, on August 10, 1985, in Toronto, and together they shared over 40 devoted years of marriage.

David is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy Stackhouse. He is survived by his siblings: Rosemary Stackhouse; Paul Stackhouse and his wife Leslie, and their children Gareth (Leighanne) and Noah; and Ben Stackhouse and his wife Carol, and their son Christopher (Sarah). David is also fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Robert, sister-in-law Rita, and nephews Daniel (fiancée Hayley) and Sean. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Barbara Sanderson, and his father-in-law, Harold Sanderson.

David earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto and spent many years as a dedicated furniture salesman with Eaton’s and Sears. Later in life, he and Cathy moved to Huntsville, where David found great satisfaction working as the resident painter at Deerhurst Resort, taking great pride in his work

An avid sports enthusiast, David enjoyed following and playing many sports, especially hockey and golf. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the game, and his quiet dedication to family and friends.

David was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Josephine Stackhouse.

In keeping with David’s wishes, there will be no memorial service and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre
