Byron Reginald Lloyd

With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Byron Reginald Lloyd on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, in his 78th year.

Byron was a devoted and loving father to Connie, Ron, Jamie, and Joel, a beloved father-in-law to Haley, and a proud and cherished “Boompa” to his granddaughter, Lily.  He was the dear brother of Jackie, Verna, and the late Ron, and will be fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

A mason by trade and an entrepreneur at heart, Byron embraced many roles throughout his life. He possessed an adventurous spirit and a deep love of the outdoors, carrying him across much of Canada and the United States. Never one to stay in one place for long, Byron approached life with curiosity, independence, and a willingness to follow wherever the next opportunity or adventure might lead.

Proudly Canadian, Byron’s love for his country was matched only by his enthusiasm for its pastimes. He was a devoted supporter of the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays, cheering them on through every season.

Byron enjoyed his toonie-bets with his Lucky charm, and the Leafybowl and Leafycup sports pools.

An avid reader, he could often be found with a book in hand, particularly those written by his favourite author, Mordecai Richler. His love of reading was something he eagerly shared with his children, always encouraging them to discover the world through books.

In keeping with Byron’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to UNICEF Canada at https://www.unicef.ca/en would be greatly appreciated.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and fondly remembered.
