Bruce Colin Liddle

Bruce Colin Liddle passed away on September 28, 2026, at his home in Huntsville, with the love of his family at his side. He was born on June 15, 1932, in Powassan, Ontario, and will be remembered as a kind and caring man whose life was marked by service to others, dedication to his community, and a warm appreciation for the people around him.

Throughout his working life, Bruce brought energy and commitment to every role he held. He worked as a press operator in the printing industry and later served as a marshal at Deerhurst. He also became well known for Bruce’s Mini Tours, offering outings through Muskoka’s favourite tourist spots while husbands golfed, driving spouses in his minivan and sharing with them the beauty of the region, especially the spectacular changing colours of the fall foliage. His excellence in service was recognized when he received employee of the month. Bruce also served as a member of the Accessibility Advisory Committee, helping ensure high standards for those facing accessibility challenges.

Bruce’s life was shaped by generosity and compassion. He cared for the disabled and elderly whenever he could, and that spirit of service extended naturally into his interests and volunteer work. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, and playing cards, and he gave his time through volunteering, Club 55, and working with the elderly and teenagers at The Door. He found meaning in being present for others and in sharing both companionship and practical help.

Among his proudest accomplishments was his love of poetry. Bruce wrote and recited his own work, and his talent was recognized with the Editor’s Choice Award for outstanding achievement in poetry. This creative gift reflected another side of a man who connected with others not only through service, but also through expression from the heart.  It was his family that he was most proud of, leaving his memoirs so they may be handed down through generations, never to be forgotten.

Bruce was the beloved husband to the late Marilyn (nee Osborne) of 42 years.  He is survived by his children, David, Brenda and her spouse Roland, Steven and his spouse Carolyn, Charles, and Terri and her spouse Raymond. He is also survived by his step-sons Bill, Steve, and Derrick. Together, they carry forward the memory of a man who gave of himself freely and whose love of family remained central throughout his life.

He was predeceased by his father, James Liddle; his mother, Beth Liddle, née Burgess his brothers, Jamie and Ken; his sister, Margaret.  Their memory remained part of his life’s story, and he now rests in their company.

A memorial service will be held on October 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 169 West Road, Huntsville, ON P1H 1M7.  Services officiated by Pastor Harry Toews.  Bruce will be laid to rest with his parents in Powassan, Ontario.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimers Society of Muskoka at https://alzheimer.ca/muskoka/en

Bruce Colin Liddle will be remembered for his caring nature, his willingness to serve, his enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures, and the kindness he extended to so many. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.
