Brenda Margaret Carr West

Brenda Margaret Carr passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Huntsville Hospital on January 9, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Wayne Carr who predeceased her in 1998. They shared 37 years together with many cherished memories. Brenda will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband John West whom she married in 2008.

Brenda was born in Huntsville to Norman and Celina Longhurst on December 24, 1940 and raised in the Ufford area, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse and learned the values of hard work and family at a young age. Growing up on her family’s farm, she not only helped with daily chores but also played an important role in helping to raise her five sisters, a responsibility she carried with love and dedication.

She attended Bracebridge High School before continuing her education at business school in Toronto. After completing her studies, she worked as a Teller at Toronto Dominion Bank. In time, she chose to focus her full attention on her family, staying home to lovingly raise her two sons. Later, she returned to the workforce as a Typist with the Huntsville Forester, and went on to serve as the Church Secretary at Faith Baptist Church, a role she held faithfully for 28 years before retiring. Her commitment, kindness, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who worked with her.

In retirement, she embraced life fully, enjoying many traveling adventures and cherished family gatherings. Above all else, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy, bringing her endless happiness.

Brenda was a loving mother to Roger and Jana Carr, Steve and Nancy Carr, Mary Jane and Randy Roebuck, Nancy West, Heather Jones-Parkes (predeceased by George Parkes). She was treasured Nana and Grandma to Trevor and Vivian Carr, Justin Carr, Holly Carr, Lindsay and Matt Bishop, Leslie and Andrew Hall, Erin Roebuck, Courtney and Blayne Loft, Shannon and Jesse Jones, Brent and Samantha Armstrong, Bradly and Brittany Jones, Amy and Kevin Jones, Brandon Roebuck, Jordan and Dominica Parkes, Jaidyn Parkes, Joshua Parkes plus 24 great grandchildren. Brenda will be dearly remembered by her 5 sisters; Gwen and her husband Eric Persson, Ruth Beaver (predeceased by Eldon), Mary O’Boyle and her husband Brian, Diane Buie and Dale and her husband Kevin Ross.
